RCMP tickets two drivers for excessive speed along Route 510
A 47-year-old woman had her licence suspended after Mary’s Harbour RCMP caught her driving 71 km/hr over the posted speed limit near Chateau Pond on Thursday.
Shortly before 1:00 p.m. on Oct. 30, a Mary’s Harbour RCMP officer conducting proactive patrols of Route 510 observed a vehicle travelling at 151 km/hr in 80km/hr zone, before locking in the vehicles speed at 146 km/hr.
Police conducted a traffic stop, and the driver – a 47-year-old woman – was ticketed for excessive speeding. Her license was suspended as a result.
This traffic stop and subsequent licence suspension comes just days after a 32-year-old woman was stopped and ticketed for driving at excessive speeds along the Trans-Labrador Highway on Oct. 25. Police observed that motorist speeding 54 km/hr over the posted speed limit, between the communities of Lodge Bay and Red Bay.
