Liam Hickey wins silver at Para Cup; United States wins 10-straight title
Team Canada, featuring Newfoundland’s own Liam Hickey, won silver medal at the 2025 Para Cup over the weekend in British Columbia, dropping a 2-0 decision to the United States in the gold medal game.
The United States finished the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record, while Canada were 3-2. Both Canada losses came to the U.S.
Canada’s National Para Hockey will now host a pair of training camps in Canada ahead of the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, with the team gathering in Calgary, Alberta, from Jan. 8-20 and Oakville, Ontario, from Feb. 9-19. Canada will open its Paralympic schedule on March 7 against Slovakia.
NTV’s Mark Dwyer spoke with Liam Hickey earlier today and will have more on that story in his weekly On the Mark feature this evening.
