Team Gushue looks to nail down playoff spot today at Canadian Curling Trials in Halifax
It’s a huge day for Brad Gushue’s St. John’s-based rink at the Canadian Curling Trials in Halifax.
Wins by Calgary’s Brad Jacobs and Newfoundland and Labrador’s Brad Gushue knock three trials teams out of playoff contention Tuesday. With three teams now at 4-1 — in Gushue, Jacobs and Winnipeg’s Dunstone — and only three spots available for weekend play, Ontario’s Epping (1-4), Saskatoon’s Kleiter (1-4) and Winnipeg’s McDonald (0-5) can each finish with no better record than 3-4.
However, top spot and a direct bye to the final is what teams are chasing today. Gushue has two big games on tap – Mike McEwan this morning and a must-see matchup tonight against Brad Jacobs.
The men’s and women’s winner, of course, will represent Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
