Government of Canada to make announcement regarding early learning and child care in Newfoundland and Labrador
The federal government will make an announcement today pertaining to more child care spaces across the province. Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Jenna Sudds, Minister Seamus O’Regan, and Minister Gudie Hutchings will be joined by provincial Minister Krista Lynn Howell for the announcement. The announcement takes place at the YMCA in St. John’s at 11:00 a.m.

Provincial Government to Lower Age for Recommended Breast Cancer Screening
The Provincial Government has lowered the age for recommended breast screening. Previously the recommendation was 50 but has been reduced to include women between the ages of 40 and 49. Peace Officers’ Memorial Service Today in St. John’s
The 25th annual International Peace Officers’ Memorial Day Service will take place today in St. John’s. The service, held during National Police Week, honours those whose lives were lost and recognizes those families, friends, and coworkers left to cope with the tragic loss. The service will be held at St. John’s Seventh Day Adventist Church beginning at 11 a.m.

Wet roads across most of the province
Across Newfoundland, roads are wet with water build-up in some areas and there are fog patches across eastern areas. In the Wabush area, roads are wet. Elsewhere across Labrador, roads are dry.
