39th annual winter lights across Canada celebration tonight
The 39th annual Winter Lights Across Canada celebration will take place today (Thursday, December 4), beginning at 5:30 p.m. in St. John’s in the lobby of the Confederation Building, East Block.
Premier Tony Wakeham will be joined by the Transportation Minister Barry Petten, and Abbigail Taylor from Conception Bay South who will activate the lights on Confederation Hill.
This event will be hosted by our own Toni-Marie Wiseman and entertainment will be provided by Kirsten Rodden-Clarke, CBS Youth Choir, and the Royal Newfoundland Regiment Band.
The Winter Lights Across Canada celebration is an annual event where each province and territory decorates its capital city and holds its own lighting ceremony. The initiative contributes to a nationwide effort to symbolically link Canadians together for the holiday season.
