RCMP investigates ATM theft after stolen excavator used to break into Witless Bay business

Ferryland RCMP is investigating a break, enter and theft at the Community Credit Union in Witless Bay that happened on May 14.  A stolen excavator was used to break into the business and an ATM was stolen from inside.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, police received a report of an alarm sounding at the Community Credit Union in Witless Bay. An excavator and a pickup truck, both stolen from a nearby business, were used to commit the crime. 

Police say the excavator caused extensive damages to the entrance of the business and the pickup truck was used to transport the stolen ATM.

On Monday morning, the pickup truck was located burned out in a gravel pit off of the Holyrood Access Road. Anyone having information about this crime is asked to contact Holyrood RCMP at 709-229-3892.

Harbour Grace RCMP seeks public’s assistance in identifying two individuals suspected of cabin break and enter

Harbour Grace RCMP is investigating a break and enter at a cabin located in the area of Lilly Pond, near Carbonear, that occurred on May 5th.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on Friday, surveillance footage captured an ATV entering onto the property with two occupants.  Five windows and a glass door were smashed by the two suspects, causing an estimated $6000.00 in damage.

Police say the ATV is a blue Yamaha quad. Both suspects appear to be young in age, possibly in their teens or early twenties. The investigation is ongoing.

Police investigate vehicle theft in Mount Pearl

Police are investigating a break and enter and vehicle theft in Mount Pearl on Saturday.

The RNC were called around 11 p.m. to a residence on Leger Crescent. Patrol officers located an injured man outside the home. He was taken to hospital for serious injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

Officers learned that the victim’s residence had been broken into and his vehicle, a white 2018 GMC Sierra was stolen. The man was injured by the suspects during the incident.

On Sunday at 3:45 a.m., RNC officers located the stolen vehicle in the area of New Pennywell Road in St. John’s. The investigation is ongoing and at this time the RNC believes multiple suspects were involved. All suspects were wearing dark clothing and were masked.

The RNC is seeking any information that may assist the investigation, including observed suspicious activity, dash camera footage or CCTV in the following areas:

Leger Crescent, Mount Pearl between the hours of 10:30 pm December 3, 2022 until 12:00 am December 3, 2022.

New Pennywell Road, St. Johns and surrounding roads between the hours of 11:30 pm December 3, 2022 until 3:30 am December 4.

RCMP continue to investigate commercial shed break-ins in Grand Falls-Windsor

The RCMP say their investigation into commercial shed break-ins in Grand Falls-Windsor is continuing, and not all those responsible have been caught.
