St. John’s International Airport is reporting 6 cm of snow since late Monday night and roads across many areas of eastern and southeastern Newfoundland are locally slick this morning. The NL511.ca map shows this rather well. As you head out to work this morning, remember snow means slow. And if you don’t have your snow tires on, allow plenty of extra distance for stopping.

The snow will end, or end as drizzle, in the next couple of hours over eastern and southern Newfoundland. Then skies will slowly clear and temperatures should rise into the mid-single digits. Labrador will see mostly sunny skies today, with highs near or below freezing. Future Radar and temperatures show this play out rather well.

Tonight is going to be chilly for the Trick-or-Treaters so be sure to dress them nice and warm, and do the same for yourself if you’re going to be out and about. Temperatures across the board are going to be near, or below, freezing with wind chills well below.

The next weather-maker arrives late tomorrow and promises to bring more rain (yes rain this time) to the Avlaon with snow, some heavy, to the west. I’ll have more on this later today.

Have a good one!

Eddie
