RCMP provide update on two ‘shocking’ acts of intimate partner violence in Grand Falls-Windsor
RCMP provided an update on their investigation into two separate incidents in central that have rocked a community and province. On Wednesday, April 8th, a woman was airlifted to hospital after police were called to a home in the town at around 2:30 that afternoon. Shortly after, a male suspect was found deceased near the scene.
Then just two days later, there was another shooting violent incident resulting in first-degree murder charges for 52-year-old Ivan Loder. RCMP today are calling it 2 separate violent and shocking acts of intimate partner violence.
RCMP couldn’t provide much more detail, including whether the suspects were previously known to police, but they encouraged anyone who may find themselves in a situation of intimate partner violence to reach out to rcmp or provincial resources for help. RCMP also acknowledge this has been a sad and shocking week that has put a community on edge, adding while rcmp would always like more resources, the staffing at the Grand Falls-Windsor detachment was appropriate at the time. The community can expect continued police presence in the area as their investigations are ongoing.
