Search and Rescue Technicians and the team at Gander’s 103 SAR Squadron made a very special delivery today to the Janeway Children’s Hospital in St. John’s.

Boxes of presents, accompanied by Santa Claus himself, flew over both hospitals and the Ronald McDonald House this morning. The RCAF Cormorant landed at the helipad and once there, crews removed a large load of presents for children inside the Janeway Hospital.

It’s an annual event for ‘The Outcasts’. That’s the name affectionately given to the personnel of 103 Squadron. The team here says they look forward to it each year.

103 Search & Rescue Squadron at 9 Wing Gander says they enjoy each opportunity to give back to the community. It’s one of the most active and busiest squadrons in Canada. The team provides 24 hour a day, 365 days a year search and rescue capability to the Halifax Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC). The Squadron is responsible for a massive area, covering the lower Arctic, the Maritimes, Newfoundland and Labrador and all offshore waters in the region.
