Heat Warning remains in effect Friday for parts of central, northeastern Newfoundland

The following weather alert was issued by the ECCC NL Weather Office in Gander. For the most up-to-date weather alerts, click this link.

The ECCC NL Weather Office in Gander has issued a Heat Warning for the following areas:

  • Bay of Exploits
  • Bonavista North
  • Gander & vicinity
  • Grand Falls-Windsor and vicinity
  • Green Bay-White Bay

Heat warnings continue for today.

Maximum temperature today: near 28 degrees Celsius.

Locations: parts of northeastern and central Newfoundland.

Remarks: Cooler temperatures can be expected along parts of the coast. Daytime high temperatures are not expected to reach warning criteria on Saturday.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place. Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle. Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
