Shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Holyrood RCMP responded to a single-vehicle crash on the Trans-Canada Highway near Holyrood. The driver, a 53-year-old man, departed the crash scene on foot and was located a short distance away by police. He showed signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested. Back at the detachment, he provided samples that were more than twice the legal limit.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Glovertown RCMP received a report of a vehicle that was traveling at a slow rate of speed, swerving all over the roadway. The described vehicle was located and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver, a 47-year-old man, showed signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested. Back at the detachment, he provided breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit.
Both men were released from custody and are set to appear in court at later dates to answer to charges of impaired driving. Their licences were suspended and their vehicles were seized and impounded.
