Sunday

There will be a few flurries or showers for the central and eastern parts of the Island. The West Coast, Northern Peninsula, and South Coast will see a mix of sun and cloud. Highs range from 0 near north-facing shores to as warm as 7° inland and south.

Monday – Eclipse Day!

As of this writing, it is looking like much of central and western Newfoundland will see a rare bout of partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies for the day. If this is the case, this should make for some excellent viewing of the first solar eclipse to visit the Island since 1970! It’s less certain the Avalon will see sunshine. In fact, some computer model guidance suggests it may even snow on the Avalon… sigh.

The image below shows the predicted cloud cover around 5 PM Monday. Hopefully it doesn’t change much between now and then as I know there are many skygazers that are very much looking forward to seeing this eclipse.

Tuesday

Flurries across the board on the Island, with his near 2. Labrador will see some flurries in the east and suna and cloud in the west. Highs of 0 to -3.

Wednesday

Flurries on the Island. Highs near 0. Sun and cloud with highs of 1 throughout much of the Big Land.
