The MV Beaumont Hamel and MV Legionnaire vessels are being assessed following a collision in the waters of Bell Island this afternoon.

In a statement from the department Transportation and Infrastructure, the department says they are aware of the incident and department officials and Transport Canada are on site investigating the matter.

The vessels have returned to Portugal Cove where they are being assessed, which will help determine when they return to service. Helicopter service will be arranged if necessary.
