NDP ask Premier Wakeham to focus on climate change
The provincial NDP have penned a letter to Premier Wakeham, urging him to take climate change seriously.
The letter asks Premier Wakeham to, “take climate change seriously, introduce legislation to
transition to a renewable sustainable economy, assist communities devastated by climate change disasters to rebuild, and implement measures to future proof communities against climate related disasters.”
This summer saw Newfoundland and Labrador’s largest wildfire rip through the north
shore of Conception Bay North, burning over 10,000 hectares, and destroying homes,
businesses, and livelihoods. NDP Leader Jim Dinn is now calling on the Tories to “release the PC plan to reduce CO2 emissions, address the effects of climate change in Newfoundland and Labrador, and help communities recover from climate disasters.”
