RNC make arrest, seize firearms

The RNC made an arrest following a disturbance in St. John’s. On Friday (Dec. 5) at approximately 2 a.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance inside a residence on Campbell Avenue. Responding officers cleared the residence and while doing so, located a male hiding inside. The male was concealing a firearm and arrested without incident. A second firearm was seized as part of the investigation. The residence was contained and the Criminal Investigation Division attended to assist. A search warrant has been executed at the property and the investigation is ongoing. 

Scott Dwyer, 42, was held in custody and appeared in Provincial Court on Friday (Dec. 5) on the following charges:

·         Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

·         Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

·         Careless Use/Storage of a Firearm

·         Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

·         Failure to Comply with a Release Order

·         Failure to Comply with a Probation Order
