The Toronto Blue Jays lost a marathon 18-inning game to trail the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 in the World Series.

Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off homerun for the Dodgers in the bottom of the 18th inning in a game that tied the mark for the longest game in World Series history.

Six hours and 39 minutes after the first pitch at Dodger Stadium, Freeman ended it just after 4 a.m. Newfoundland time with a drive to off Brendon Little.

It was the longest World Series game in almost a decade and the first time in Fall Classic history that each team used every pitcher in their bullpen.

Los Angeles slugger Shohei Ohtani was a force for the Dodgers, belting two homers and adding of pair of doubles before being walked four times. The big hit for the Jays came off the bat of Alejandro Kirk, who delivered a three-run shot off Tyler Glasnow in Toronto’s four-run fourth inning.

The Jays opened the series with a 11-4 win in Game 1 with the Dodgers responding with a 5-1 victory in Game 2.

Game 4 goes tonight in L.A., starting 9:30 p.m. Newfoundland time.
