ATV operator in Grand Falls-Windsor arrested for dangerous driving, evading police
A 26-year-old man was arrested in Grand Falls-Windsor this past week after he reportedly took off from police on an off-road vehicle.
On October 31, just after 2:30 p.m., RCM tried to stop an ATV operator who was driving on the roadway in the town without a helmet. Officers activated emergency equipment, but the driver sped away in traffic. Due to public safety concerns, police did not pursue him.
A short time later, officers spotted the same operator on the road headed in the opposite direction, still without a helmet. He again sped away to avoid police and nearly collided with two nearby passenger vehicles.
The ATV operator was identified by the officers and was later arrested at his home. He was released to appear in court at a later date to answer to charges that include dangerous driving and flight from police. He’s also expected to be handed tickets for several Highway Traffic Act violations.
The investigation is ongoing.
