Firefighters are were on the scene of a major structure fire in downtown St. John’s Monday morning.
Multiple departments responded to the blaze on the corner of Lime Street and Livingstone Street, just behind St. John’s City Hall. A home was destroyed, but no injuries were reported, and nobody appeared to be inside the property at the time.
The RNC asked the public to avoid Lime Street, Livingstone Street, Cabot Street and Goodview Street, and the surrounding area until further notice. The neighborhood features many attached older homes. The fire spread to an apartment complex next door as firefighters worked to contain the blaze from spreading further.
