An area of rain is going to move across the Island from west to east overnight and will be mostly offshore of the Avalon by 6 or 7 AM Thursday morning. Future Radar does a very good job timing out the rain working its way across the Island.

Rainfall amounts tonight into early Thursday will not be overly significant, but some areas of the West Coast will see as much as 30 mm, while the rest of the Island and southern parts of the Big Land will see as much as 15 mm.

Rainfall forecast from late today thru early Thursday (October 25, 2023)

Lows across the Province tonight will be near 10° for much of the Island and between -4° and +3° in Labrador. Labrador West will see showers change to flurries, while southern and eastern areas will see some light rain and/or showers overnight.

Forecast for tonight – October 25 into the 26, 2023

Thursday will see highs on the Island reaching the upper single digits to lower teens with increasing amounts of sunshine throughout the day. There will be some sprinkles on the West Coast at times, and the Avalon will likely see some early morning showers as the rain moves offshore.

Forecast for Thursday, October 26, 2023

Friday will see rain working into western Newfoundland during the afternoon, which will spread eastward Friday night. And by Saturday most of the Island will be in the rain. While in Labrador, a wintry mix can be expected from Friday evening through late Saturday. In fact, it looks like the first widespread snowfall of the season is on the way. Western areas will see the snow change to rain, while the north will see mostly now. Amounts may be as high as 15 cm or so, which may not sound like a lot, but it is the first one of the season.

And while we are in for a pseudo-mild weekend on the Island… next week may not be as warm. In fact, many areas of the Island may see their first snowflakes of the season Monday or Tuesday. And that’s probably not the best news as I don’t think many of us want to see snow, or rain, or Halloween. Stay tuned for details on this one!
