Wet drive across Newfoundland

Roads across the Island are wet with areas of fog. Across western Labrador, roads are snow-covered. Roads in the eastern sections of Labrador are dry.

Marine Atlantic has cancelled crossings scheduled for this morning. Provincial ferries are on time.

At the St. John’s International Airport, WestJet Flight 264 is delayed, and Porter flights 234 and 226 are delayed. Flights are on time in Gander and flight information is unavailable for the Deer Lake Regional Airport.

Some relief at the pumps today

After weeks of increases, fuel prices are down in the latest adjustment from the PUB.

Gasoline dropped 2.9 cents per litre. Diesel on the Island is down by 5.4 cents and down by 5.3 cents in western Labrador.

Furnace and stove oil is down 4.70 cents. Stove oil in western Labrador decreased by 4.51 cents.

Propane dropped by 2.2 cents per litre.

Airport security screeners in St. John’s wear bright colours amid job action

Security screeners at 15 airports across Atlantic Canada have launched a job action.  

They are protesting non-payment of wages by their employer, GardaWorld.  They are still on the job, but to make their point, they are not wearing their uniforms, but are wearing bright colours instead. Federal Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan was asked about the job action today.

Deputy Prime Minister turns sod on Mount Pearl housing project as she sells federal budget

The Deputy Prime Minister of Canada was in Mount Pearl today, as she sells the federal budget to Canadians.

As NTV’s Beth Penney reports, she turned the sod on a new housing project.
