Business owners say housing, addictions crisis visible in Downtown Pedestrian Mall

Today was the last day for the Downtown Pedestrian mall in St. John’s, unofficially marking the end of another summer business season. 

But while the mall was widely praised in 2020 as an antidote to the covid blues, some business owners say interest is dwindling amid open evidence of the province’s housing and addictions crisis.
