After nearly two weeks of drizzle, clouds and fog over eastern and central Newfoundland, the weather pattern has finally shifted to a drier and sunnier one. The first half of our weekend is going to be downright gorgeous. Expect lots of sunshine and high temperatures climbing back into the middle and upper teens in many areas. Labrador will see much the same, however highs will be in the upper single digits in the west.

I wish I could say Sunday will be the same, but that will not be the case. An area of low pressure will move into the Grand Banks, south of Newfoundland, and this will act as a mechanism to change the weather pattern. The pattern will shift back to what we dealt with for much of last week… drizzle, clouds, and fog over eastern and northeastern Newfoundland.

Part of this will be due to the low-pressure centre to our south and the other part will be due to that low pulling some moisture from Hurricane Kirk. Kirk will not pase a threat to the Island but it will indirectly affect us with the moisture… the fog and drizzle on Sunday may be quite ‘intense’… as intense as those things can be.

The pattern will remain similar for much of next week… with some sign of change later in it. Be sure to enjoy the nice weather today and have a great weekend!
