St. John’s to hold Earth Day events

Today is Earth Day. It is recognized annually on April 22.

There will be several events taking place in St. John’s to mark the occasion.

At 10:00 a.m. there will be an Earth Day Flag Raising at St. John’s City Hall. The event will begin at Wyatt Hall on the second floor.

From 11:00 a.m. to noon there will be a Trail Explorers with Nature Interpretation at Bowring Park. On Friday there will be a free online workshop about reducing food waste hosted by Earth Day Canada at 1:30 p.m.

From April 21 to 25, Waste and Recycling staff will visit Spring Camps at the City of St. John’s Community Centre’s to play games, complete activity sheets and watch videos to educate and empower children to be kinder to the earth by reducing, reusing and recycling.
