The search for a 22-year-old woman who was swept into the ocean off Cape Spear is now officially exhausted. 

Police say the investigation will remain open as a missing persons case, however at this time the disappearance of the 22-year-old woman from India is not believed to be suspicious. 

Just over one week ago rescue efforts began when officials responded to reports of a man and woman being swept into the ocean by waves while taking pictures near the water. According to the fire department at the time the man was able to free himself from the water, but his efforts to rescue the woman were unsuccessful.

Police say search efforts have now been exhausted, and next-of-kin have been notified.
