The largest high school hockey tournament in the province begins today in Paradise and Mount Pearl. The Royal Newfoundland Regiment Memorial High School Hockey Tournament runs from April 15-21, and sees 16 girls teams and 16 boys teams compete for the Beaumont-Hamel Cup and Beaumont-Hamel Centennial Cup.

The tournament commemorates the Regiment’s rich culture and legacy in NL, including its hockey heritage dating back to the “Caribou Crew” in WWI.

The calibre of skills and competition is high with teams from 23 high schools across the province, including western NL, central NL, eastern NL, Avalon and Metro St. John’s. The invitational hockey tournament is managed by a volunteer not-for-profit Board of Directors in partnership with The Royal Newfoundland Regiment and with NL Schools and Hockey NL.
