A team from this province will be heading to Saskatchewan next week with the aim of attracting nurses to this province. The move is in response to Saskatchewan government’s decision to send a team here to attract nurses there as part of that province’s national health care recruitment tour. Three Saskatchewan recruitment drives were held this week in St. John’s.
Newfoundland and Labrador health minister Tom Osborne said what Saskatchewan did was unethical and says he hopes sending a team there will send a message to stop taking health care workers from our province, where there’s already a shortage.
