RCMP Traffic Services West seizes four vehicles over two-day period

RCMP Traffic Services West seized the vehicles of four drivers and issued multiple tickets on the west coast of Newfoundland in less than 36 hours last week. 

On Thursday, Feb. 26, at approximately 10:00 A.M, a traffic stop was conducted in Barachois Brook after police observed a known suspended driver operating a vehicle. The suspended driver, a 38-year-old St. Georges man, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license and the female passenger was ticketed for allowing an unlicensed person to drive. The vehicle was seized and impounded.

A short time later, around 11:30 a.m., a RCMP Traffic Services West officer observed a known unlicensed driver operating a vehicle in Stephenville and conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle was found to be unfit for the road, in addition to not having an insurance policy. The 40-year-old male driver was ticketed under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and the vehicle was seized and impounded.

On Friday, Feb. 27, at approximately 1:00 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on the Hansen Highway in Stephenville, and the female driver was found to be driving without an insurance policy. She was issued a ticket, and her vehicle was seized and impounded.

At approximately 3:15 p.m. on Friday afternoon, an officer in Lourdes conducted a traffic stop after observing a known unlicensed driver behind the wheel. The male was found to also be operating without an insurance policy. He was ticketed for these offences under the HTA and his vehicle was seized and impounded.
