Early-afternoon collision sends three people to hospital.
A collision involving three vehicles in the west end of St. John’s sent three people to hospital early Monday afternoon.
Shortly before 1:30 p.m. emergency crews responded to a t-bone collision at the intersection of Topsail Road and Cowan Avenue. The crash caused extensive damage to two vehicles while a third vehicle was moderately damaged.
Two ooccupants of a sedan, and the driver of a compact SUV were all taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be serious. A dog, also in the SUV, appeared uninjured. The driver of the third vehicle involved was also not injured. Firefighters had to remove the door of one of the vehicles to allow the passenger to exit.
The collision caused significant traffic delays until the scene could be cleared.
A second collision occurred later Monday afternoon, at the intersection of Columbus Drive and Mundy Pond Road, sent one person to hospital after their vehicle struck a home. That crash also saw one vehicle roll onto its side.
