Cabinet Committee on CBN Response and Recovery to visit Conception Bay North Areas affected by wildfire 

News

 The new Cabinet Committee on Conception Bay North Response and Recovery is visiting unincorporated areas and the town affected by the Kingston wildfire today.
 
The Cabinet Committee’s visit will include a tour of the areas affected by wildfire, as well as introductory meetings with the Disaster Recovery Committee that represents the unincorporated areas of Kingston, Western Bay, Ochre Pit Cove, and Northern Bay, and the Town Council of Small Point-Broad Cove-Blackhead-Adam’s Cove. This visit allows the committee to get a first-hand look at the damage caused by the wildfires, and hear directly from those affected, as their voices will help guide recovery efforts. 
 
Members of the committee include: 

  • Helen Conway Ottenheimer, Minister of Justice and Public Safety, and Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Management (Chair) 
  • Chris Tibbs, Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs and Minister of Environment, Conservation and Climate Change 
  • Craig Pardy, Minister of Finance, President of Treasury Board and Minister of Seniors 
  • Joedy Wall, Minister of Social Supports and Well-Being, Minister Responsible for Housing 


Riley Balsom, MHA for Carbonear-Trinity-Bay de Verde, will also attend, having worked closely with residents, communities, and partners to actively help plan next steps in guiding recovery efforts.
