Nine days have been set aside next summer to hold a preliminary inquiry into the alleged murder of a Deer Lake woman inside her home last fall. Justin Paul Campbell, 33, was charged with murder after the death of his grandmother, 69-year-old Eva Banfield. She was found inside her Deer Lake home last September. Campbell is also accused of stealing items from her home.
Police have not disclosed what was taken, but have charged Campbell with theft over $5,000. Campbell, who has been in custody since his arrest, appeared by telephone at provincial court in Corner Brook last week. The hearing will run from Aug. 26-Sept. 6.
