Bank of Canada to announce overnight rate today
Today, the Bank of Canada will announce its decision on the target for the overnight rate. The announcement will be made at 11:15 a.m. Newfoundland time. On the last adjustment date on June 4, the rate was held at 2.75 percent; it was also held back in April.

Fare cuts coming Aug. 1 for Marine Atlantic
A ferry trip between this province and Nova Scotia, will soon be cheaper. As NTV’s Beth Penney tells us, as of August 1st, Marine Atlantic will cut its rates, with a new funding promise today from the Prime Minister.
