The are sunny breaks to be found on the island Friday, starting on the west and south coast, moving east through to the afternoon. However it is bookended by pockets of isolated showers with the chance of more thunder and lighting.
The day starts with fog for all, with some drizzle mixed in left over from the overnight. The rain is mostly west to east moving, however, humidity will not only make for the daytime highs to feel warmer than showing, but also may cause the clouds to fill allowing for randomized rainfalls.

The best chances for a good downpour comes over St. Alban’s and the Connaigre Peninsula over the supper hour and in the Stephenville and Port au Port Peninsula region closer to 8:00 pm.
Meanwhile, the Northern Peninsula can expect more frequent on again off again rain through the afternoon while the Metro Avalon sneaks in some sun in the final hours with limited rainfall totals – reduced to just some light rain.
Most regions outside of the eastern side of Newfoundland should expect anywhere from 5-20 mm through the overnight and into Saturday.

Rain builds across Labrador Friday into Saturday
Rain looks to start early in Happy Valley-Goose Bay Friday by way of Labrador West. That rain pushes up into the north coast and along into the south coast as well, leaving behind an even 15-30 mm across the board.
The rain in Happy Valley-Goose Bay comes with a meeting of the south and northeast winds, causing temperatures to rise and fall, meaning the chance of thunderstorm conditions increases.
