North wind returns cooling most of Newfoundland Friday
Ryan Harding, NTV Weather Centre

The morning starts a little different for everyone across Newfoundland and Labrador on Friday.
The north side of Newfoundland is seeing the final touches of some overnight rain fall lightly.

The eastern side of the island wakes up with season temperatures and the south west wind still gusting 40-60 km/h, however, as the morning rolls on that wind shifts north again, bringing back the below seasonal temperatures.

In fact, by Friday evening, parts of the Avalon will be struggling to stay above the zero line. The West coast does have a higher ceiling for a daytime high, with west winds blowing light.

West and South Coast Newfoundland will enjoy clearing skies through Friday afternoon. The Avalon see’s a mix of sun and cloud. However, Central and most of the north-facing regions are likely to be stuck under heavier cloud cover for the majority of the day.

Labrador see’s some rain/wet snow mix leave it’s south coast in the early hours, leaving a mix of sun and cloud behind. By the afternoon, there is extra cloud collecting along the coast from Makkovik south, while inland Labrador see’s clear skies.
Labrador’s temperatures are up and down in terms of day time highs, but so too is the wind direction. That see’s most directions on the compass by day’s end.
