Eastern Newfoundland sees moments of heavy rain and high winds Wednesday

For the eastern side of the island, the rain starts light and increases through to the afternoon, peaking near the supper hour for the Metro region. It’s all apart of 10-20 mm forecasted for most of the Avalon Peninsula.

The wind increases with the rain. The Avalon finds itself in a 50-80 km/h wind Wednesday afternoon through to the evening.

There is some heavier rain again moving across the Connaigre Peninsula early afternoon, moving through the eastern side of Cetnral and out through the Kittiwake Coast. The south-facing side of that region is in a 20-40 mm range, while further north it returns closer to the Avalon’s forecasted totals.

Meanwhile, the western side of the island is continuing rain from the overnight, moving upwards into the Northern Peninsula through the morning. Since it started earlier here, it ends earlier! By mid-afternoon the light rain starts to fizzle out and there may even be a sunset in it by the end of the day.

Lighter rain shifts around Labrador between sunny breaks

There is about 5 mm of rain to shift around Labrador Wednesday, in the form of lighter rain that comes and goes. In between, for central and coastal Labrador, there are parts of the day spent with some sun shine.

For Labrador West, we’re looking at more cloud cover during the dryer moments.
