Many coastlines see drizzle and fog in Newfoundland while sun stretches inland as Wednesday unfolds

The same south wind driving temperatures into the high teens for many Newfoundland communities Wednesday brings temperature limiting fog to southern coastal areas.

Meanwhile, on again off again rain plagues the west side of the Great Northern Peninsula with increased wind potential.

While the south-facing side of Newfoundland will likely be wrapped in fog for a large portion of Wednesday, a small pocket of sun starts over the Metro region. This pocket grows and eventually reaches to the west side of Central Newfoundland by sunset.

All the while, that south wind is gusting 40-60 km/h on average, fueling daytime highs into the mid to high teens.

The drizzle and fog looks to tuck in to the west coast as Wednesday rolls on, resulting in afternoon RDF. The wind looks to increase to gusts of 70-90 km/h on the western side of the Northern Peninsula. This region is also anticipating an extra 5-10 mm of rain, settling in near the supper hour.

Daytime highs for Newfoundland and Labrador Wednesday

Split Wednesday across Labrador with moments of sun, rain and snow

It’s a complete mixed bag for Labrador overnight leading into Wednesday. The north coast is likely to see some snow replaced by rain only to finish with sun and rising temperatures. Sun and cloud is the sentiment for Happy Valley-Goose Bay after some late night light showers while Labrador West has the potential to see some light rain with a chance at a frozen mix.
