Cooler day for Eastern Newfoundland while limited rain flanks the island Thursday

Regardless of where you are in Newfoundland on Thursday, you’re in for more cloud than Wednesday and a few degrees off the top of those daytime highs.

A low pressure system passes south of the island which will shift the wind on the Avalon, bringing it in from the southeast and drop some minimal rain through the afternoon and into the supper hour.

That wind, specifically on the coastline, brings the temperatures back into the teens while inland will likely clip the 20 degree mark once more.

The south-facing side of the island has some morning and evening fog with increased cloud cover that will spread into central Newfoundland with sunny breaks. The West Coast will see increased cloud through the afternoon with light rain falling near the supper hour.

That rain comes by way of a rainfall over the Northern Peninsula that looks to drop 3-6 mm during the same timeframe.

Needed rain moves and builds across Labrador Thursday

Early morning rain left over from the overnight spends time in Labrador City Thursday morning, before moving west to east, building along the way. While Happy Valley-Goose Bay gets a sunny break in the afternoon, the west and coastlines find moments of sun along the way, more so in Lab West.

Despite the time in the sun, temperatures come down in Labrador West, back into the high teens.
