Grand Falls-Windsor re-opens upgraded tennis courts following massive donation

News

The town of Grand Falls-Windsor celebrated the grand re-opening of its tennis courts on Friday (June 19), marking the completion of a significant recreation infrastructure project made possible through funding from Tennis Canada and the National Bank Play Your Court Program.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Shanawdithit Centennial Park to unveil the newly upgraded six-court facility. The project included the complete resurfacing of all six courts, providing a safer, more modern playing surface for tennis enthusiasts and recreational users alike.

The improvements were supported by a $100,000 grant through the National Bank Play Your Court Program, with the town contributing the remaining project costs. That additional funding enhanced the facility with new nets, windscreens, and site improvements, ensuring the courts remain a high-quality recreational asset for residents and visitors.

Launched in 2022, the National Bank Play Your Court Program has contributed millions into municipalities across the country to held refurbish and develop publicly accessible tennis facilities. The Grand Falls-Windsor project is one of the latest initiatives supported through that program.
