RCMP on the Northern Peninsula took two impaired drivers off the roads in the last week.

Officers patrolling the highway near Parsons Pond on Thursday noticed a vehicle operating with significant external damage. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver of the vehicle showed signs of impairment. A roadside breath test was administered and the 48-year-old male driver was arrested for impaired driving. Further samples at the detachment confirmed the impairment. Shortly after noon on Saturday, a 41-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving by St. Anthony RCMP, as a result of a tip from the public. The driver was located showing signs of alcohol impairment, failed a roadside breath test and was arrested. He was returned to the detachment where further samples confirmed his impairment.

Both vehicles in these separate incidents were seized and impounded.
