Survey under way for recreational groundfish industry
DFO is hoping those who take part in the recreational ground fishery each year in this province will give a little feedback on what people saw and experienced while on the water in the summer and fall food fishery.
The survey opened in November and the federal government wants to hear from food fishers and the general public to gather information on all things groundfish, especially cod. Federal fisheries minister Joanne Thompson says if you fish, process, work on the water or live in a coastal community, DFO wants to hear about it – the aim is to guide policy makers on how the recreational fishery is managed.
The survey can be found on DFO’s website and closes on Jan. 9.
