Severe flu season has claimed two lives in this province with over 30 currently in hospital
A severe flu season continues across the country, and now new data from Newfoundland and Labrador’s Influenza Dashboard shows this province is also being hit hard.
Between December 28 and January 3, there were 124 new cases of influenza. During that period, 33 people were hospitalized, with no admissions to critical care and no deaths.
However, the province has reported 2 influenza-related deaths that occurred around mid-December.
Of all influenza cases reported so far this season, 99.7% (360/361) have been influenza A and 0.3% (1/361) have been influenza B.
