Resignations, elections and a Tory return: 2025 in N.L. politics
2025 marked a year of change in Newfoundland and Labrador politics.
Andrew Furey surprised the province by resigning as premier in February. He was succeeded by John Hogan, who won the Liberal Leadership in May.
Hogan then lost the provincial election in October to Tony Wakeham, who returned the Tories to power for the first time in a decade as the province’s 16th premier. NTV’s Ben Cleary has this recap of the provincial election.
