RCMP Traffic Services East tickets excessive speeder near Holyrood

Justice, News

A 20-year-old driver is without his vehicle and his driver’s licence after he was stopped on Monday by RCMP Traffic Services East for excessive speed on the Trans-Canada Highway outside of Holyrood.

Just after 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 13, an officer with RCMP Traffic Services East conducting enforcement on the Trans-Canada Highway near the Holyrood Access Road observed a vehicle travelling westbound at speeds up to 154 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone.

A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver — a 20-year-old man — was ticketed for excessive speeding. His driver’s licence was suspended. The traffic stop was conducted as winds in the region were starting to dramatically increase, which increased the level of risk to the driver, his passenger and other road users.
