Province asking residents to weigh in on highway improvement projects

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is asking residents of Newfoundland and Labrador to weigh in on highway improvement projects to be considered for the 2026-27 road construction season, as well as future years.

Residents are encouraged to provide highway information such as region, route name or number, the nearest municipality or landmark, and the type of highway issue being experienced. The deadline for submissions is end of day on February 16, 2026.

Residents can submit their views or concerns, along with photos, to roadsplaninput@gov.nl.ca or the following mailing address:

All information received will be compared to the information gathered by the department during its own assessment. Road projects that will be included in the plan will be based on safety; traffic volumes; socio-economic impacts; input from the general public; commercial, industry, and tourism impacts; populations serviced; the impacts of climate change; and assessments by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s engineers.
