The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has arrested a man following an assault in Torbay.

The RNC received a report of a weapons offence yesterday (Oct. 1) on Motion Drive where a female had been assaulted and received non-life-threatening injuries the day prior. Two people exited the home without incident. A search warrant was subsequently executed at the residence and resulted in the seizure of two long guns and ammunition.

Assault with a weapon
Carelessly using a firearm
Pointing a firearm
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
and uttering threats.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are anticipated.

The RNC continues to encourage anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to report it directly to police by calling 709-729-8000. Crimes in progress should be reported by contacting 911.
