Police investigate theft of solar powered speed sign, seek public’s help

News

Bonavista RCMP is investigating the theft of a solar-powered speed sign from the Main Road in Princeton. The theft occurred on Nov. 5, and police are seeking the public’s assistance with the ongoing investigation.

The suspect or suspects cut down the solar-powered speed signage, which had been installed along Main Road headed towards Southern Bay, and dragged it into the nearby wooded area. The speed signage was described to police as very heavy, and it is likely that more than one person was required to move the equipment away from the roadway.

Police are looking for any witnesses to the incident, anyone who observed something or someone suspicious and anyone who may have travelled through the area on Wednesday, November 5 at approximately 3:30 p.m., and has dash camera footage.

If you have information about this crime, you know the current whereabouts of the stolen equipment, or you have any available dash camera footage, please contact Bonavista RCMP at 709-468-7333.
