Police charge man in connection to break, enter and theft heavy-duty equipment from Clarenville
RCMP East District General Investigation (GIS) has charged 37-year-old Grenville Clarke in connection to a December 2025 break and enter to a Clarenville-area business, and theft of heavy-duty and snow removal equipment. Clarke was apprehended by the RNC during an early morning traffic stop in St. John’s west end earlier this month.
At approximately 1:20 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, Grenville James Clarke, 37, was arrested by the RNC in relation to multiple criminal investigations across eastern Newfoundland.
Clarke faces Criminal Code charges related to the Clarenville-area commercial break and enter:
- Theft over $5,000 – three counts,
- Break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence.
Clarke also faces six additional Criminal Code offences in relation to multiple vehicle and property theft investigations carried out by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC). Those charges include:
- Theft of a motor vehicle – three counts (cube van, tractor and bobcat),
- Theft over $5,000 – three counts (copper cables, trailer and snow removal equipment)
Clarke appeared in Provincial Court in St. John’s on Jan. 9. He is also the subject of arrest warrants in the province of Alberta. The investigations continue at this time with full collaboration between the RCMP and RNC and further arrests and charges are possible.
