Overnight fire causes extensive damage, displaces residents
An overnight fire in the west end of St. John’s has displaced two people.
Shortly before 2:30 a.m. a frantic 911 call was received from a resident of a home on Pearce Avenue, stating their house was on fire. When firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) arrived a few moments later, both residents of the home were outside while fire consumed a portion of the interior.
Crews were able to knock down most of the fire in short order, however the blaze caused extensive damage to a portion of the home. Firefighters spent the next while ensuring no hot spots remained.
Two people and a dog safely escaped the fire, however at the time a cat was still reported as missing.
