Ottawa promises to automatically file taxes for millions of low-income Canadians
The Prime Minister recently announced a series of affordability measures ahead of the fall budget.
One of the measures includes a long-standing Liberal promise to make tax filing easier for low-income residents. Starting in the 2026 tax year, the Canada Revenue Agency will automatically file taxes for up to 5.5 million low-income Canadians, with full implementation expected by 2028.
