Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro says its systems have improved further and has lifted its Power Watch advisory.

“We are entering normal operations and no customer action or alerts are required at this time,” the utility said in a statement Monday morning. “As we always do, we will continue to monitor the status of our assets and provide updates if needed.”

The news comes after N.L. Hydro lifted its more serious Power Warning on Sunday evening. The utility had been asking customers to conserve energy since Saturday morning after frazil ice forced the shutdown of the Bay D’Espoir generating station.

N.L. Hydro and Newfoundland Power had warned customers there might need to be rotating outages over the weekend, but they weren’t needed thanks to a combination of conservation and power imports from the mainland. The warning was lifted after Hydro was able to get Bay D’Espoir running again.
