10,064 people across the island started this morning without power, as the island was battered by hurricane-force winds Monday, with those strong winds continuing through the night into Tuesday. The eye-popping 5 digit number of affected customers comes from Newfoundland Power, who have a busy day ahead. Areas from east to west are experiencing local outages, with many showing an unknown estimated restoration time.
