More Than 10,000 Begin Tuesday Without Power After Extreme Winds Hit Island
10,064 people across the island started this morning without power, as the island was battered by hurricane-force winds Monday, with those strong winds continuing through the night into Tuesday. The eye-popping 5 digit number of affected customers comes from Newfoundland Power, who have a busy day ahead. Areas from east to west are experiencing local outages, with many showing an unknown estimated restoration time. On Newfoundland Power’s website, the power company says they’re working diligently to restore all customers impacted by the storm, and thanks people for their patience.
